Mike qualified in 2006 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Hertfordshire. Since this time he has had a special interest in Sports Physiotherapy and has gained a broad spectrum of experience across a wide field of sports. Mike plans to complete his Masters qualification in the next few years and is working towards his silver ACPSEM accreditation. He has a keen interest in functional rehabilitation, strength and conditioning, biomechanics, injury prevention, sport psychology and performance enhancement.
He is currently Physiotherapist to Hertfordshire Mavericks ZEO Superleague netball team, and has worked in rugby at various levels. He currently works with the RFU Developmental programmes and is Lead Physiotherapist to the England Deaf Rugby team. He has also worked in gymnastics, athletics and tennis, and at multi-sport events including the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Sainsbury’s School Games.
His approach is to combine various manual therapy techniques including mobilisation, manipulation, soft tissue release with functional rehabilitation which involves movement analysis and correction in order to allow the individual to safely return to activity in a goal-orientated way. He is also qualified to perform acupuncture.
Before joining Bodybalance, Mike worked in dance and performing arts, including working with various performers in West End productions such as War Horse and Mamma Mia, and with the Urdang Academy. This experience, combined with an interest in hypermobility and associated conditions, means Mike has a particular skill in dealing with what can be quite a challenging problem.
In his younger years Mike previously represented his county at tennis and has a keen interest in all sports generally. His more recent activities including Parkour, running and swimming.
