- BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, graduated 2015
Emily Birch graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2015 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy. Since graduating Emily has had over 6 years of experience as a qualified Physiotherapist; working in the NHS, private practice and pitchside with a rugby club.
Having rowed to a competitive level as an adolescent, Emily was introduced to the profession through her own injuries. Her experience as a patient inspired her to study physiotherapy and developed a passion for helping people return to activity. She particularly enjoys the orthopaedics side of things, working closely with patients post-operatively to restore function. She also has experience treating the obstetric population, helping with musculoskeletal pain pre- and post-partum, and with return to exercise after childbirth.
Emily is committed to continuous professional development and attends regular seminars and courses. She promotes an active role in recovery and has a keen interest in injury prevention. Emily loves the problem solving element that musculoskeletal physiotherapy involves, and feels that helping the patient to fully understand their condition leads to achieving the best outcome. As such, Emily always takes the time to fully explain the problem to the patient, making sure they are in control of their progress.
Outside of work Emily enjoys keeping active and has tried her hand at many different sports. She enjoys rowing on the River Lea, playing golf (on a dry day!) and skiing when she can get away.
